Tuesday Night Report

Kelsie Steele · June 14, 2009

God is continuing to bless our English Club and Audio Bible Study meetings! Each week people are coming to hear the Word of God. By way of reminder, we hold English Club for the first hour of the evening, follow that with a 5 minute break, and then begin Bible teaching/preaching in Ukrainian for the second hour. The evening ends with tea, snacks, and fellowship.

I Met the “Martin Luther” of the Carpathians

Joshua Steele · June 10, 2009

During our first CMO project in 2006, we showed The Light of the World in a very small village called Khashchovanya. By the time of that showing, we had already experienced a fair amount of resistance from Catholic priests in other villages. Thus I was quite surprised when we saw the priest from Khashchovanya present at our showing along with his children! He viewed the entire film, and listened without objection to my Gospel presentation at the end.

Some Girls and Some Guys

It’s been a while since we’ve posted any pictures of Abby and Rebekah. Here’s a sampling of some family shots.

ABS from Nikki’s Point of View

Kelsie Steele · May 21, 2009

“Nikki” is what we have affectionately dubbed our Nikon D40 camera. Every Tuesday, she goes with us to English Club and Bible study to help document the evening’s events. The following are a few of her shots from recent weeks.

Romans 3: The Closing Arguments

Joshua Steele · May 16, 2009

For the past few weeks at ABS, we’ve been teaching through the first two chapters of Romans. Since his opening statement in Romans 1:18, Paul has built an air-tight case against the ungodly. Furthermore, having drawn us into a position of judgment, he has shown that we who consider ourselves to be “better than the wicked” are in fact just as guilty, condemned by our own mouths.

Report from Tuesday Night

Kelsie Steele · April 24, 2009

Each Tuesday evening, we continue to meet together with Ukrainians for English Club and Audio Bible Study. (ABS)  “Audio” refers to the fact that each time Joshua, Jessie, or another missionary preaches from the Word of God, the messages are being recorded in digital format so that multiple Ukrainians can have access to them over time.

Our Love Story, Part 2

Joshua Steele · April 14, 2009

On March 18, 2001, I left the United States bound for Lviv, Ukraine, and the beginning of my work as a full-time missionary overseas. I was 21. At the time, marriage was not even on the radar for me. I had already purposed that I would first establish my work on the field - especially mastery of the language - before I even considered taking a wife. Within a year of my arrival on the field, I was preaching in Ukrainian, and ministering regularly with a local church in Lviv. While I was content to serve the Lord in singleness during that time, my days often seemed quite lonely.
