Meet some of the young people of Bible First Kids - a new class we’ve started at our church here in Lviv. From the left: Pastor Vladyslav (with Sofia), Abigail, Joshua (back), Anya, Bohdan, Timothy, Anya, Matthew, Maria.

Bible First Kids

Joshua Steele · June 13, 2017

On April 8, 2017, our eldest daughter Abigail was baptized following her profession of faith in Christ. After the event, as we stood outside and chatted with various friends who had attended, Pastor Mihailo approached me with a request. “I heard that you’ve been taking Abigail through the Bible First lessons at home.” I acknowledged that this was correct. “Would you be willing to do the same for our older kids at church?”

David Noble Steele was born in Lviv, Ukraine, on January 16, 2017. As you may have guessed from the photos, we like this little guy a lot, and we can’t wait to introduce you!

Meet David Noble

Joshua’s Kingdom of Little Girls. This was the endearing title once bestowed upon our family by my former language teacher, Veronica. And not without good reason! A family who can boast a string of four lovely daughters in a row is sure to win many admiring smiles, as well as the occasional quip about the absence of boys. Ukrainians in particular seem partial to girls, often reassuring us that, “Girls are so much better. They’re quieter. They’ll take care of you when you’re older.” Etcetera. “Still,” I would think to myself at times, “if God wanted to give me a son, I wouldn’t complain.”

Platform Rising

Joshua Steele · September 22, 2016

When I first came to Ukraine over 15 years ago, my initial goal was to learn how to speak the Ukrainian language. I knew that if I was to effectively communicate the Gospel to people here, I needed to be able to talk.

Gaining New Ground

Joshua Steele · September 1, 2015

This summer marked our 9th CMO project! When we first embarked down this path back in 2006, I had no idea how far the Lord would take it. Each year, He continues to bless this outreach, bringing new laborers into the field and new fruit for His glory.

At a recent film showing in the village of Ilemnya (pronounced ee-LEM-nya) we had over 40 kids in attendance. Each of them received copies of Good and Evil Short plus starter packets for our Bible course.

Overcome Evil with Good

Carpathian villages, though beautiful in photos, can be surprisingly dark places. Entrenched in centuries of religion and superstition, the people who live in these mountain communities often embody a sad yet all too common paradox: “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him...” (Titus 1:16)

Caroling for Comics

Kelsie Steele · January 10, 2009

Here in Ukraine, it is common for children to go door to door and sing Christmas carols. This year, we had a couple of kids come to our door to sing, and after giving them the customary couple of grevenas (the equivalent of a few cents) we decided to offer them a copy of Good and Evil Short.

Good and Evil Shipment has Arrived!

Joshua Steele · January 2, 2009

We are very pleased to report that the entire shipment of Good and Evil books has arrived at last. On Tuesday morning, we unloaded all four pallets of books in Lviv. We have a growing list of people who have received the short version of G&E, and have requested a full copy. We are thrilled that we can finally begin filling these requests. We believe that God will use this book to draw Ukrainians to Christ.
