Joshua preaches the Sunday morning service at Living Word Church in Lviv.

Standing in the Gap

Kelsie Steele · August 6, 2020

Over 20 years ago, our friends and fellow missionaries, Mark and Rhonda Blessing, came to Ukraine and began a thriving ministry. Among other things, Mark pastors a church here in Lviv and his family is very active in the lives of the members. At the beginning of 2020, Rhonda needed an operation in the U.S. which kept them there for a few months.

Little Artists and Producers

David often asks me, “Is the bad sickness over yet?” I look forward to the day when the answer to that question will be yes. But for now, the Steele family is doing just fine.

God recently opened some new doors for Joshua and I to share our love story, encouraging others to follow God’s guidance in marriage and family.

Love Story Cafe

Kelsie Steele · April 29, 2020

Dinnerware clinked and the chic restaurant dining room hummed with the activity of about 50 people: couples dressed up to celebrate the 14th of February over a special dinner. “The Love Story Cafe”, a Valentine’s outreach hosted by God’s Design Church, was in full progress. Josh and I had supplied the “love story” part a few minutes earlier.

As the Coronavirus pandemic drags on, my morning hours are spent driving doctors to the Pulmonary Diagnostic Center south of Lviv. Pictured here are five of my regular passengers: Oleg, Natalya, Svitlana, Natalya, and Anna.

Lviv Angels

Joshua Steele · April 10, 2020

Wherever you are in the world right now, you are likely reading this while under some kind of quarantine. Here in Lviv, the Coronavirus pandemic has upended our lives, similar to what you are likely experiencing. Non-essential businesses are closed, we must wear masks if we leave home, lines of people are spaced with six-foot gaps, and suddenly, everyone is homeschooling!

We are very excited to announce that God is sending a new soldier to the front lines. We’d like you to meet Kade Bloom!

Kade to Ukraine

It’s been said before, but it’s worth saying again and again: THE number one need we have on the mission field is for laborers. Money, computers, vehicles, groceries, buildings — all of that is needful and we praise God for it. But vehicles don’t preach. Dollars alone can’t win souls. God has entrusted the ministry of the Gospel to people.

We still don’t have a new “official” family photo since Mia’s arrival, but this impromptu shot in the living room turned out pretty nicely! Clockwise from the top: Joshua, Kelsie, Mia (4 mos.), Rebekah (11), Abigail (14), Macie (dog), Hosanna (9), David (2), Kathryn (4).

Fall Family Photos

Joshua Steele · December 13, 2019

It’s true, fall is nearly over. All the more reason to share some of the photos we’ve snapped over the past couple of months! We’ll have a newsletter coming out soon, but in the meantime, here are a handful of memories from our life in Lviv.

Our family is thrilled to introduce you to our newest little girl. Say hello to Mia Faith!

Meet Mia

Joshua Steele · October 14, 2019

This summer, on July 22, we welcomed Mia Faith into our family. Even after so many years raising kids, these little babies still bring immense joy to our hearts! I think my favorite season of “baby-hood” is when they begin to smile. Mia can stop the whole family in its tracks as everyone clambers for a peek at her darling expressions.

“Daddy’s home!” As something of a finale to our otherwise quiet spring season, I got to attend the wedding of a good friend in the US. After a week away from my family, and a joyful reunion upon my return, it’s time to buckle up. CMO 2019 is only days away!

Calm Before the Storm

Daniel Courter first visited us in Ukraine in 2007 along with his father Anthony and younger brother Aaron. He later went on to participate in both CMO 2009 and CMO 2010. This spring, on May 25th, I had the privilege of attending his wedding to Genesis Laubenthal. It was a beautiful ceremony, and Kelsie and I are excited to see how God will use Daniel and Genesis for His glory!
