God has recently opened an exciting door for us to put copies of Good and Evil into Ukrainian libraries! Working with us to head up this project is our long-time friend, Serhii Chepara. Read on to learn how God is moving!

Operation Library

Joshua Steele · March 30, 2019

Shortly after our return from America, one of the teachers in the Christian school at our church asked me speak to her class. She had heard about our visit to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky and wanted me to share our experience with the children. After I spoke, the kids would do a puppet show about Noah’s Ark. The whole event was to take place at a local children’s library in our neighborhood. I agreed to come and a date was set.

Our family recently returned to Ukraine after a three-month visit to America. While in the US, we got to reconnect with precious friends and family, we reported on our ministry, we took a huge road trip, and we even got to visit the Ark Encounter!

A Chapter of Blessing

Joshua Steele · January 25, 2019

On December 14, 2018, amidst heavy snowfall, our plane finally touched down at the airport in Lviv. We were all exhausted and several of us were suffering from colds, but we were glad to be back home in Ukraine. God blessed our visit to America in many wonderful ways, and in this admittedly overdue report, we’d like to share with you a few of the highlights.

After more than a year of work on translation, graphics, editing, and logistics, the Ukrainian edition of Good and Evil is here! On August 23rd, this group of men worked past midnight unloading all 5,000 books!

Vision To Reality

Joshua Steele · September 30, 2018

For some of our readers, the completion of Good and Evil in Ukrainian may already be old news. 5,000 books were delivered to our office in Lviv on August 23rd, and shortly thereafter we published an announcement on the ETO blog. (You can read that here.) But as you may have guessed, there is more to tell.

The Bible tells us that children are like arrows in the hands of a warrior — their impact can be swift and far-reaching. But effective arrows need preparation. They require thoughtful crafting to ensure that they are straight and sharp. I’m excited by the little arrows God is raising up here in our church in Lviv, and I’d like to tell you about how we are using Scripture to prepare these young people to have an impact for Christ.

Sharpening Arrows

Joshua Steele · June 24, 2018

There are days when I feel too exhausted to go on. Sometimes I think, “I have so many other ministries...maybe I’m stretching myself too thin with this kids’ class?” Then my phone rings. A child’s voice greets me from the other end of the line in the respectful Ukrainian “vy” form which makes me feel old. “Good day, Uncle Joshua! Do you have time for me to come over and recite my memory project?” And just like that, I’m back in the game.

Over the Christmas holidays, I was invited to preach at an evangelistic service here in Lviv. My message that day was called “Two Robes” and focused on the need for Christ’s imputed righteousness as a basis for salvation.

Two Robes

Joshua Steele · March 19, 2018

“Wow, I’ve never heard anyone teach that before!” That is the response I often receive from Ukrainians when I have the opportunity to explain the concept of righteousness imputed by faith — the idea that Jesus’ perfect righteousness completely replaces my own and becomes the basis of my justification before God. (Romans 3:21–22, 4:4–5; Philippians 3:9)

Get ready folks! This fall, the Steele clan is coming to the States! This will be our first trip in four years, and we’d like to tell you what we have planned.

Coming To America!

Joshua Steele · February 5, 2018

When last we departed America, Kathryn was only a few weeks old. She recently turned 3! Meanwhile, David has cleared the one-year mark, and he’s never been out of Lviv! Yep — it’s been a while, and we’re ready to see some friends and family face-to-face.

Last Sunday, we invited our kids from church to join us for an afternoon of pizza, games, singing, and smores. We had a blast, and we’d like to share a few of the warmest moments with you.

One Sunday Afternoon

The Bible First Kids class I lead at our church continues to be one of the ministries I enjoy most. We focus on Scripture memory, Sword Drills, and of course reading through the Bible First lessons together. And we have fun doing it! The kids range in age from 10-year-olds up to 15 and 16-year-olds.

Good and Evil, family news, our new ETO staff family, CMO 2018 — where do I start? Two pages never seems enough to fit in all the news. But this time, I’m going to try…

Grab Bag Report

Joshua Steele · November 8, 2017

There are months when so much is going on, it’s hard to find time to write newsletters! God is blessing the ministry and keeping us busy with progress on a variety of fronts. In this issue, we’d like to give you a little grab bag of several mini-reports. Let’s dive in!
